FILI offers translators of Finnish literature a unique opportunity to focus on their work for three weeks at our residency. This year’s residency started on 19 February. Turkish translator Özge Acıoğlu will be working on Riikka Pulkkinen’s novel Totta. Ave Leek is putting the finishing touches on the Estonian translation of Kreetta Onkeli’s Poika joka menetti muistinsa. Ukrainian Iryna Malevych is translating Ari Turunen’s non-fiction book on the cultural history of beer, Humalan henki. We are also hosting two Czech translators: children’s book Mörkövahti by Tuutikki Tolonen is being translated by Alzbeta Stollová, and the State Award for Foreign Translator winner of 2012, Vladimir Piskoř, is grappling with his third translation of Pasi Ilmari Jääskeläinen’s work, this time the novel Väärän kissan päivä.
