New literary agency launched in Finland
Helsinki Literary Agency is establisehd by three independent publishers: Gummerus, Teos and Schildts & Söderströms, to represent their foreign rights.
The agency will open in January 2017 under the direction of Urpu Strellman.

FILI is hosting an expanded programme of public events at this year’s Helsinki Book Fair. Literary translation will be featured on several stages, including discussions of Nordic children’s books and translating language and culture into different languages. This year’s State Award for Foreign Translators will also be awarded at the book fair.

Applications for the FILI translator-in-residence programme
FILI has its own residency programme for foreign translators of Finnish literature. The next three-week residence period is scheduled from 27 February to 19 March 2017. Applications may be made until 10 October.
