A very good start for the season and plenty of new deals in September!

September’s new deals:

Bastei Lübbe has pre-empted the German rights to Arttu Tuominen’s Alec (Otava 2025) and its next two parts of the Crystal Trilogy, while the Dutch rights have been bought by De Fontein. Two of his other books’ rights, The Oath (Verivelka, WSOY 2019) and Jeopardy (Hyvitys, WSOY 2020) have been obtained in Czechia byKnihy Dobrovský. All books from Elina Ahlback Literary Agency.

Karl Rauch Verlag has obtained the German rights to Juha Itkonen’s Tomorrow I’ll Tell You Everthing (Huomenna kerron kaiken, Gummerus 2025) from Elina Ahlback Literary Agency.

Oceaan has made a two-book pre-empt deal for Mari Renko’s The Yellow House Chronicles’ (Helmisormus kirjekuoressa and Pitsihuntuun kuiskattu, WSOY 2025) Dutch rights. Series from Elina Ahlback Literary Agency.

Xander Uitgevers has empted the Dutch rights to Martta Kaukonen’s Follow the Butterfly (Terapiassa, WSOY 2021) from Elina Ahlback Literary Agency.

Both Droemer Knaur and De Fontein have pre-empted the German and Dutch rights to Anu Ojala’s Silk Road North series (Jääsilkkitie, Like 2021, Kuolinsoitto, Gummerus 2023 and Taivasverkko, Gummerus 2024) from Helsinki Literary Agency.

Voce bianca from Estonia and Fraktura from Croatia have obtained Pirkko Saisio’s iconic Helsinki Trilogy (Pienen yhteinen jaettava, 1998, Vastavalo, 2000 and Punainen erokirja, 2003, WSOY) rights from Helsinki Literary Agency while the trilogy is being included in the well-known Penguin Edition in the English world. Also, Kitos Knygos has obtained the Lithuanian rights to the third volume of the Trilogy.

Psichogios has also bought the Greek rights to Vuokko Hurme’s Hues series’ first two volumes (Tiukun salaisuus, 2020, Kirjava kartano, S&S 2021) from Helsinki Literary Agency.

CBJ Verlag has obtained the German rights to Elina PitkäkangasSang (WSOY 2022) from Elina Ahlback Literary Agency.

Minumsa Publishing Co. has obtained the Korean rights to both Tove Jansson’s The True Deceiver (Den ärliga bedragaren, 1982) and Fair Play (Rent Spel, 1989) from Rights & Brands.

Restless Books has obtained the US English rights to Linda Bondestam’s Chop Chop – The Story of a Busy Robot (Chop chop – En tapper jordos berättelse, Förlaget 2024) from Rights & Brands.Alexander Puutio’s The Curiosity Code’s (The Curiosity Code: Stay Curious or Stay Stuck in a World of Constant Change) rights from Elina Ahlback Literary Agency have been acquired in the UK world by The Bodley Head, in Brazil by Companhia das Letras/Objetiva, in Greece by Psichogios, in South Korea by Seosamdok, and in Netherlands by HarperCollins Holland.
